PATTERSON - On Thursday, Dec. 16, 1954, Ethel Dorothy, dearly beloved wife of Mr. Thomas Patterson, R.R. No. 1, Craven, Sask. passed away in a local hospital at the age of 50 years. Besides her husband, the late Mrs. Patterson is survived by three sons, <names of living individuals have been removed>, at home, three daughters, Mrs. Emil (Ruth) Ludvicek, of Fairfax, Iowa, U.S.A. and <names of living individuals have been removed>, at home; two grandchildren, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Denzin, 3621 Dewdney Ave. and one brother, Arnley, 1270 Argyle St. The funeral service will be conducted from the Bremner Funeral Chapel, Monday, Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Tregarva.

Emil Ludvicek

Emil L. Ludvicek, 75, of 1734 Derby Ave. NW, Swisher, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services will be held Saturday at the Christian's Meeting Room, 1266 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, at 2 p.m., with Samuel Ludvicek officiating. Graveside services will follow in Castek Cemetery near Swisher, with Lyle Ludvicek presiding. Friends may call at the meeting room on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday after 12:30 p.m. Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include five daughters, <names of living individulas have been removed;> four sons, <names of living individulas have been removed;> and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dora Zimmerman Ludvicek; his wife, Ruth; a sister, Alice Renaud; and a brother, John Ludvicek.
Born Feb. 5, 1923, in Swisher, Emil married Ruth M. Patterson on May 10, 1952, in Saskatchewan, Canada. She died in 1996. Mr. Ludvicek farmed in Johnson County for many years.
A memorial fund has been established.
