Facts and Events
Emil was a Pentecostal preacher and a strict Christian. He and Tressie separated about 1919 when Irene was 9 years old. He gave all the money he and Tressie saved up to "Mr and Mrs Gay" who Irene described as having a ministry in Portland and a "big sign that said 'Jesus is the light of the world' ". Tressie played organ, guitar and banjo. He was a millwright and "more strict" than Tressie. Irene was Tressie's favorite. Emil had a large family (13) in Montivideo (state unknown) and they were well to do. He came to Tenino where AML had her ranch from Lewiston, Montana with Tressie and Irene. Tressie worked in a "box factory". After Emil and Tressie divorced it appears he may have become a heavy wine drinker. He stayed close by after Tressie divorced him. Went to Minnesota to follow her when she moved there. References
