I suspect Emanuel's middle name, Ford, is given to him because him mother's maiden name was Fordemwalt.

I found this inscription in the side of Emanuel's own study Bible that I have inherited, it reads:

My father was born Smithville, Ohio (on) Sept 11th - 1834 and Died at Spokane, WA (on) May 19th 1925 being 90 yr. 6 mo. +8 days old (Dear old soul) -Signed Abner (Emanuel's son)

1925-5-19 -Died 1834-9-11 -Born 90-6-8 - (age at death)
