Elwyn and 'Berdie' built a house adjacent to his parents' home on the Trivoli, IL. farm. By the spring of 1947, they were living, in a trailer, behind 'Shupman's' Service Station, in Castro Valley, CA. Shortly after that they bought a home in Hayward, CA. Elwyn worked as a machinist at Peterson Tractor for years, until his retirement. Upon retirement, they had a house built at Cedar Ridge, outside of Sonora, CA., where they lived until Elwyn's death.
