Personal History
Elton Leroy Simmons (1879-1961)
As a young teacher, Elton's cousin, Helen Janette (Mocco) Wright taught in a 1-room schoolhouse that included her cousin Elton as a student. On at least one occasion, Elton was reported to have been a troublemaker to his 15-year-older cousin in her class. As a result, Elton's father (Melissa's husband), George Simmons told Mocco he would help her by sitting in her classroom one day. This apparently worked and she had no more discipline problems.
