MARRIAGE
At St. Mark`s Church, on Wednesday, Mr. James Bowie, of Wellington was married to Miss Elsie Beatrice Little the eldest daughter of Mr.H. P. Little, of, 95, Roxburgh-street, the Rev. Mr Askew being the officiating clergyman. The bride who was given away by herfather, wore a cream Oriental satin dress, trimmed with lace and pearls, and onthe train were true lovers knots. She was attended by three brides maids- MissElsie Playne, cousin of the bride, who wore a gown of shell pink crepe de chineand a pearl juliet cap, and carried a shower bouquet of pink dahlias, and two little girls, Miss Irene Little (sister of the bride) and Miss Nellie Low (niece of the bridegroom), who were attired in cream crystalline and carried shepherds`crooks with pink streamers. Mrs. Little (mother of the bride) was dressed in a reseda silk gown and Oriental trimmings, with a black velvet hat and plumes, andwhite feather boa. Her bouquet was of cream dahlias and autumn leaves. Mr. Alex.Bowie, brother of the bridegroom was best man, and Mr. Alfred Little, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. After the ceremony some eighty guests were entertained at the New Century Hall, Kent- terrace, by the parents of the bride, andthe usual toasts were honoured. In the evening over 200 guests were entertainedin the hall. Mr. and Mrs. Bowie left for Nelson, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a saxe blue costume, black beaver hat with tangerine plumes, and she also wore a set of black furs, the gift of the bridegroom. Thebride`s present to the bridegroom was a silver-mounted walking stick, while thebridegroom`s presents to the bridesmaids were a silver-mounted brush and comb to the elder bridesmaid, and gold cable bangles to the two little ones.
