Roden, Elsie Dobbs

Funeral was to be at 11 a.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church for Mrs. Elsie Dobbs Roden, 77, 910 Majorie Street Boaz, who died Wednesday June 21, 1989. The Rev. Billy Malone was to officiate. burial was to be in the adjoining Cemetery. Albertville Memorial Chapel Juneral Home was in charge. 
She is survived by three daughters; Mrs.Tencil Dyer, Minnesota, Mrs. Sybil Frith, Cartersville Georgia,  Lida Seay, Boaz, sons, J.D. Roden, Rome Georgia, L.B. Roden, Altoona, 31 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

Thomas Roden (ca. 1732/1735-1807/1809) and four of his brothers moved (probably from Virginia) to South Carolina between 1750 and 1760. His son, Jeremiah (1764-1851), served in the Revolutionary War, and married Susannah Kirkland in 1784. They moved to Kentucky, Tennessee, and finally to DeKalb County, Alabama. Descendants lived in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and elsewhere.
