Article from Kingston Freeman, February 7, 1927: (Regarding prisoners seeking release from Napanoch prison) Elmer Cole, sent up from this county in 1903 on a charge of attempted rape, said he was being falsely imprisoned. He had been in 24 years and was 56 years old now. He was committed to Mattewan from Ulster county in March 1903, and transferred to Napanoch.
