Delphos, Ohio, 12 Oct 1935. Mr. Paul Ashton of Venedocia, Ohio, married Miss Violet Reynolds of Spencerville. Witnessed by Mrs. Frances M. Stopher and Miss Luetta Stopher. Violet told RC that she & Paul were married in their minister's house and did not bring witnesses with them so Mrs. Stopher and her daugheter witnessed and ceremony and signed the license. Rev. Stopher's main church was in Delphos but he was the minister at the West Union Christian Church on West Union Road in Spencer Township, outside of Spencerville, where Paul and Violet were members.

Violet Reynolds grew up in the West Union Community of Spencer Township, north of Spencerville, Ohio in Allen County. The West Union Christian Church, on West Union Road, was ministered by Rev. E.E. Stopher who resided in Delphos, where he also ministered to a larger church. Violet and Paul Ashton were both members of the West Union Church. They were married in the Delphos home of Rev. E.E. Stopher and his wife, Mrs. Frances M. Stopher, and daughter, Miss Luetta Stopher, signed the 12 Oct 1935 marriage license.
