NOTE: She is often mis-identified with the Ellen Morgan, also born about 1854, who married James Trent and lived until after 1910 in St. Landry Parish -- but that entire family is consistently listed as black/mulatto. I have found nothing for sure about Ellen after 1870 in New Orleans, and she may have died as a teenager.
