State of Louisiana, Parish of Washington--Be it known and remembered that on this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four and in the year of the Independence of the United States of America the seventy eighth, before me James Andrew Erwin, Recorder for the Parish of Washington state of Louisiana duly authorized by law to exercise the powers of Notary Public therein, personally came and appeared Mrs. Ellen Ellis, first the wife and then widow of David Slocum, now widow of Henry Daniels deceased in her own name and as tutrix to her minor child Alfred Washington Daniels born of teh marriage with the said Henry Daniel deaced., who did declare and say that she does hereby make, nominate, constitute and appoint Mr John J. Slocum of the Parish of Washington state of Louisiana to be her true and lawful agent and attorney in fact for her and in her name to do and perform all such acts and deeds as she herself could do were she personally present in the matter of the succession of her said husband and as tutrix aforesaid.
