Ellen Barber Batson Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Wiggins. WIGGINS - Ellen Barber Batson passed away on December 4, 2000, at her home in Wiggins, Mississippi. Mrs. Batson was born October 7, 1924, in Moultrie, Georgia. She was graduated from Moultrie High School and Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Martha Spencer Barber and her brother, LeRoy Robert Barber. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Brax Hartness Batson of Wiggins. She is also survived by three daughters, Suellen Morrison (James) of Wiggins, Sally Setterstrom of Mobile, AL, and Anne Stewart (Michael) of Vicksburg, MS; one son, Braxton Scott Batson of Wiggins; one daughter-in-law, Norma McRaney Batson of Wiggins; and one brother, John Spencer Barber of Hattiesburg. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Emily Batson Overstreet, Braxton Chet Batson, Katie Marie Batson, Benjamin Scott Prewitt, Cullen Joseph Stewart, William Wallace Morrison, Martha Elizabeth Morrison, Katherine Ellen Setterstrom and Sarah Anne Setterstrom, and one great-granddaughter, Anna Katherine Overstreet, and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Batson was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Wiggins where she taught kindergarten for 23 years. She was active in church and civic affairs. She was a Christian, wife, mother, teacher, artist, caregiver, and always a lady. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Wiggins on Thursday, December 7, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Thomas Price Memorial Cemetery in Stone County. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
