In the name of God Amen. Elizabeth Hodge of Augusta County of Colony of Virginia being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory. Thanks be given to God for his mercy and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for one_____ to die I therefore do make this my last will and testament in writing.
First, I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner by my children and neighbors. My executors by reason of distance not being here which charges I order payment out of my movable estate.
Item in the next place appoint, constitute and ordain my trusty friend who now my attorney executor of this my last will and testament _____(that?) is to say Mr. Gabriel Jones whom I do hereby pray to do for me in the following manner. That is to say if he recovers my lands and movables now in the law from Asahel Hodge that then my two youngest sons Jonathan Hodge and Jacob Hodge by equal division may enjoy the land and their heirs and assigns forever and the movable estate by equal division amongst the rest of my children. To wit: David Hodge, Elizabeth Hodge, Ruemia Hodge, Rachel Hodge and Hannah Hodge either in money or equal portion of the estate at the division by my extors.
Item do order that of my eldest son David Hodge be bound apprenticed to Thomas Rees Blacksmith to learn that trade in the county of Augusta.
I likewise order my next son Jonathan Hodge be bound to Andrew Bird to learn the trade and ______ of weaver and he shall be bound to learn him to read and write and cypher if he can be taught.
I likewise order my youngest sonn Jacob to be bound to Samuel Newman to do laboring work to be taught to read write and cypher if he can take it.
I likewise order my daughter Rachel to be bound to Thomas Looker and likewise to learn to read and my daughter Hannah to William Draper under the the same circumstances to be taught to read. Each one______Bible______ and I do hereby revoke, disallow and annul other wills and legacies by me before made Legacies for firm and effectual this only is my last will and testament.
In witness where of thus here unto set my hand and seal this second day of February in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred fifty two. signed, sealed published pronounced and declared by this Elizabeth Hodge as her last will and testament in presence of William Draper, Edward Davis, Andrew bird and Samuel Newman.

At court held for Augusta County the 7th day of June 1752. This last will and Testament of Elizabeth Hodge being presented into court was proved by oaths of William Draper, Andrew Bird and Samuel Newman. Three of the witnesses there to subscribed and ordered to be exercutors. Gabriel Jones, gent the Extor there in named having in open court refused to take on him the burden of the Executor of this will on the motion of Peter School and Samuel Newman who made oath with and with Nicholas Seahorn and Thomas Lookie their security entered into and acknowledged their bond according to Law. Certificate is therefore granted them for obtaining _____with _____ in one form.
