Elizabeth Wilkinson's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 11th May 1779, when she married Edward Walby at the church of St George in the East in the eastern suburbs of London. They went on to have at least seven children together between 1780 and 1793, all born in the London area; the children baptised between 1780 and 1786 were baptised in Southwark, whilst the youngest two children were baptised in Shoreditch. It has yet to be established when either Elizabeth or her husband Edward died. However, Elizabeth was still alive in 1828 when her son Edward William Walby wrote his will - he specifically left provision for his mother, suggesting that she was probably a widow by that time. |
