His Elizabeth was the sister of the well-known Principal Secretary of State under Queen Elizabeth. Even though her father was a councilor to the Queen this did not keep her husband out of the Tower of London. She shared her husbands imprisonment, and died in the Tower, and was buried in the chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula on 21 July 1596.
