Elizabeth Walby was appears to have been born around 1819 at Great Wymondley in Hertfordshire. She was baptised alongside two sisters when she was about three years old, on 8th September 1822 at Great Wymondley. She was the daughter of Ann Walby, formerly Cocker, and her husband William Walby, an agricultural labourer.
The 1841 census finds Elizabeth living with her parents and siblings at Great Wymondley. Later that year, Elizabeth married her cousin, Thomas Worbey. Their fathers were brothers. They appear to have had eleven children together between 1842 and 1863. They generally lived in Hitchin parish, but many of their children were baptised back at neighbouring Great Wymondley. The 1851 census finds them living at The Riddy, a small group of farm worker's cottages in Hitchin parish but close to the border with Great Wymondley.
By 1861 they had moved to Walsworth, another hamlet in Hitchin parish, and Thomas kept a beer shop. Ten years later the census records their address as the Red Cow at Walsworth. Elizabeth was working as a plaiter at this time.
Thomas died in 1881. Elizabeth survived him by about eleven years. She appears in the 1891 census living at Walsworth with her daughter Eliza (who was described as having been infirm since childhood) and two granddaughters.
Elizabeth died in 1892. She was said to be 73 years old.

Baptised same day as sisters Ann and Fanny. Censuses suggest that she was probably born a few years earlier.
