Ann Cocker was baptised on 12th February 1786 at Graveley in Hertfordshire, daughter of Richard and Mary Cocker.

On 17th July 1809, aged 23, Ann married William Walby, an agricultural labourer in the neighbouring parish of Great Wymondley. He appears to have been a few years older than her. They went on to have seven children together. The first two were baptised back at Graveley in 1810 and 1812, then the younger five were baptised at Great Wymondley between 1814 and 1829. At least two of their children died young.

The 1841 census finds Ann, William, their children and what appear to be two grandsons living at Great Wymondley.

Ann died at the age of 59, being buried at Great Wymondley on 3rd April 1845. Her last abode immediately before her death was given as the neighbouring parish of Hitchin. William survived her by just under four years.

    Baptized / 1786 / Feb[ruary] 12 / Ann dau[ghte]r of Richard & Mary Coker

This baptism has been linked to the Ann Cocker who married William Walby in 1809 on the basis that it is around the time implied by the age given when she died, in one of the two parishes in which she lived with William as an adult, and one of the witnesses to her marriage was a Richard Cocker, which was the name of the father of the Ann baptised in 1786.
