From a descendant of Amy (Armstrong) Scott: “When the battle of Princeton was fought (January 1777), … my great-grandmother Armstrong was frying doughnuts when the boom of the first gun announced the beginning of the battle. As it was cold they put on their overcoats and shawls and ran up to the top of the highest hill and saw the fighting. Of course it goes without saying, that they had their pockets full of doughnuts.”
