Bio: Frances was the daughter of Caleb and Sarah Elizabeth (Thomas) Holt. When she was around 5 yrs her mother married Drury Mashburn. It is unknown whether her mother had been widowed or not. It is unknown if Drury Mashburn adopted Frances. He listed her as Frances Mashburn on the census. She listed Drury as her father on her marriage application to her 2nd husband, John W Cavender, but she listed her father as unknown Holt on her marriage application to her 3rd husband, Richard White.

1st marrage was around 1882 in Tennessee to Wesley "BJ" Finchum. She was around 20 years old. They had 3 children: William Alfred Finchum, Lillie Finchum and Flora Rufina (Finchum) Britt.

FRANCES J. WHITE DIES AT 81 YEARS
Services At Bratton Chapel Tuesday
Mrs. Frances Joan White, age 81 years, passed away Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock at her home, 906 West Pearl street. She had been in failing health the past three years.
Mrs. White was born in Tennessee, a daughter of Caleb and Sarah E. (Thomas) Holt, both natives of that state. She was married three times, all of her husbands preceding her in death. Her first marriage occurred sixty-one years ago in Tennessee to Wesley Finchum. Her third marriage was to Richard White in 1902 and he died thirty-four years ago. She came to Indiana fifty-three years ago and the family settled near Lebanon. She had been a resident of this city forty years.
Survivors are two children, Flora Britt and Charles White, both of Indianapolis, a half-brother, John G. Washburn of Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Ruey Richey of Lebanon, Mrs. Samantha Finch and Mrs. Addie Roberts of Indianapolis, and six grandchildren. Two children, Lillie and William Finchum, are deceased, the latter, a veteran of World War I, passing away in a veteran's hospital after the war.
Funeral services will be held at the Bratton Brothers funeral home Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with the Rev. C.A. Metz, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the Bratton funeral home.
