2) James married Elizabeth Stewart in Troy, Miami County in 1865. Was she a Cherokee? We were always told we were descended from one of five Cherokee brothers who fled the Trail of Tears, but I've traced the family line all the way back to Scotland in the middle ages. If there's an Indian, it had to have been her and her kin, but I haven't found anything on her family.
