Mrs. John H. Dowell died at her home on Monroe Street Monday night at 9:50. Three weeks ago she underwent an operation at St. Mary's Hospital for tumor. The operation seemed successful but about 2 weeks ago she began failing and her death was expected at any time by the family.

They made their home in Jackson township until three years ago last April, when they moved to Chillicothe, where she had since resided. At the age of sixteen years she joined the South-Methodist church and has led a good christian life.

Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children; Dr. R. L. Dowell and Mrs. N. W. Wingo of this city; Gus L. Dowell and Mortimer Dowell of Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. George S. Dowell, Braymer, and Dr. Horace Dowell, Clearmont.

The funeral will be held from the Dowell home on Monroe Street at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be made in Edgewood Cemetery.
