Elizabeth's husband and her sister-in-law, Jane Parsons Bentley (wife of James William Robinson), were brother and sister.

Elizabeth and James must have travelled to Victoria from Tasmania some time between 1850 and 1855. The children before this date were born in Tasmania, while those that came after were born in Victoria. They seem to have stayed in the Melbourne area, while Elizabeth's mother and sister, Matilda, relocated to Shelford, west of Geelong.

Elizabeth was buried with her husband. Also in the same grave are granddaughter Sarah Robbins and son-in-law Charlie Robbins.
