Alexander married 19oct1848 Elizabeth ROBERTSON, youngest dau of late John Robertson, Hamburg merchant (A Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland (1863)) at Barony and Edinburgh (IGI). In 1861 Alex. Bennett MCGrigor (1828), spouse Elizabeth, were at Lanarks. (census). McGregor (1828), spouse Elizabeth, were at Lanarkshire; in 1881 Alexander B. McGregor, LL.D., procurator (1828 Glasgow), wife Elizabeth (1829 Hamburg), son Alexander, apprentice at law (1860 Glasgow), niece Jane Robertson (1853 St. Davids, Fife), and 6 servants were at 19 Woodside Terr., Barony (census).

A portrait of Alex M’Grigor of Kernock (1772 Glasgow-1839 Glasgow), Glasgow writer, was lent to Old Glasgow Exhibition by Mrs. A.B. M’Grigor. A portrait by John Graham Gilbert was lent by Mrs. M’Grigor of the son of Alex, Alexander M’Grigor of Kernock (1796 Glasgow-1853 Glasgow), writer, who married (1) 1826, Janet Stevenson, dau of William Bennett, and (2) 1832, Mary Cusine, dau of William Wedderspoon of Tayside. Alex had issue by both marriages (Old Glasgow Exhibition).
