    ... John Woodson was born ca 1747 in Virginia and spent his life in Cumberland County. He was twice married: First to Joanna Booker and ca 1785 to Betty Venable, widow of John Venable and daughter of Capt. John Raine.

    John Woodson was a member of the Committee of Safety in Cumberland County.

    His obituary was published in the Richmond Enquirer, Oct. 15th, 1821.
