  4. 4.0 4.1 The parish of London St. James Duke's Place is on the east side of the City of London, fairly near the boundary with what was still Middlesex in the 1860s. The two civil registrations found for an Elizabeth Oxlade are in Holborn Registration District which took in a number of parishes within Middlesex to the west of St. James Duke's Place, and a year later in Westminster. The 1871 census states that the children were all born in "London, St. James". There was a second parish named St. James Garlickhithe on the Thames midway between the City boundaries, but it also bears no relationship to either of the birth registrations.
There is no matching baptism for Elizabeth in those in London Metropolitan Archives. The closest is for an Elizabeth Oxlee, daughter of James and Jane.
