25 May 1752: MRS. ELIZABETH MARSHALL of Washington Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia. for & in consideration of the natural love & affection which she hath & beareth unto the said THOMAS MARSHALL, and for the better maintenance of him, hath given, granted, alliened, enfeoffed & confirmed unto said THOMAS MARSHALL a tract of 100 acres of land being part of the tract of JOHN MARHSALL died possessed of and lying along the east line of the said tract, in Washington Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia. all right, title, interest whatsoever of the said Elizabeth Marshall of, in and to the said Messuage etc. Wit: Benjamin Rollins, Augustine Smith, John Whiting.
17 May 1779: The will of Elizabeth Marshall, written 17 April 1779 and probated 17 May 1779 William Marshall was named as Executor and the will was witnessed by Samuel Stallard (?), Peter Wood and George Hammett. This names (1) son William, (2) daughter Mary McClanahan ("Molly"), (3) son Markham, (4) daughter Margaret Snelling (called "Peggy" in father's will), (5) granddaughter Elizabeth, daughter to my son Thomas, (6) grandson Lewis, son to my son William, (7) grandson George, ?? (8) grandson Thomas, son of John, (9) grandson Thomas Smith, (10) grandson William Lovell. Culpeper County, Virginia, Will Book B, page 287.
