    1. Solomon Simpson (Jr.), born October 18, 1771, died January 10, 1859, married Elizabeth Lantern, daughter of Reuben Lantern, married on April 21, 1795. (Elizabeth Lantern had been married before to William Ritchey, and by this marriage had one son, James Ritchey, who grew up in the Simpson household). Solomon married (2) Frances Caricoff** born 1793. Children of Solomon and Elizabeth Lantern Simpson were:
    1. Solomon Simpson III, born 1798, who married Mary Black, born 1798, married on September 29, 1819, by Rev. John Helms, methodist, William Wilson, witness.
    2. Sarah (Sally) born 1795, married James McNeil (also spelled McKniel), born 1805.
    3. Thomas, born 1799, married Paulina ____, born 1802.
    4. John Simpson, born 1805, married Rebecca Deel, born 1817, probably the daughter of Samuel (born 1794) and Mary (born 1797) Deel. One daughter, Emily Simpson.
    5. Levi Alexander Simpson, born March 5, 1809, died July 12, 1869, (death reported by son John C.) married Julianna, born 1814, died October 13, 1862. Levi with wife and two of his daughters are buried at the Fincastle Presbyterian Cemetery, on the right up near the church.
    6. Samuel Simpson, born 1807.
    7. Alexander Simpson, born December 20, 1820, died February 12, 1908. 6:30pm, married (1) Harriet Crush, born 1822, died December 1, 1883, and married (2) Matilda Bogges on May 19, 1885.

    Children of Solomon Simpson III, born 1798 and Mary Black, born 1798, she the daughter of John and Eve Black. Mary Black was born in June 1797, died October 12, 1868, married September 29, 1819.
