(Died) At the residence of her son-in-law J. B. Nowlin, in Austin township, Decatur County, Illinois, on Sunday Jan. 21, 1877. Mrs. Elizabeth Sykes, aged 67 years.

Mrs. Sykes, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Langdale was born in Yorkshire, England and at the age of fourteen emigrated with her parents to this county, and settled in Dearborn county Indiana. At the age of nineteen she was married to John Sykes, of Cincinnati, Ohio, where she resided until 1849, when her husband dying of cholera, she returned to Dearborn County, and remained there until 1867, since which time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Nowlin. She was a most excellent woman. She was a sister to Robert and Thomas Langdale of this vicinity.

Note Austin Township is in Macon County, not Decatur County.
