His father was noted as Frederick George SURGETT , Warehouseman [not stated as decsd] Witnesses were John JARDINE -her brother and Mary DAVIES -this couple married c1863. 1871-Joseph Surgett head 35y and wife Lizzie 35y were living at 10 Upper John St, Shoreditch - he was an Upholsterer. Three chn were living with them - Sophie aged 6y. Frederick 4y baby George 5 months old. Whole family stated to have been born in Shoreditch. 1881-Elizabeth , widow 44y living at 10 Upper John St. Shoreditch with her chn Sophia 16y Servant, Fredk 14y Errand Boy, Alfred 8y, Wm. 6y, Arthur 2y. Elizabeth was described as a Mangler. George who was 5 months in 1871 appears to have died. 2 other families shared the house. 1891-Elizabeth a widow aged 54 and born in St Lukes , was still living at 10 Upper John St , Shoreditch with F.H. 24y a fancy leather worker , Arthur 18y a tennis bat stringer , William 16y a machine lad .
