Facts and Events
Who were the parents of Betsy Jackson Young? Page 50 tells of the Jacksons and the Job Allens traveling to Knox County in 1814. It names several of the Jacksons, but the child Betsy is not specifically mentioned. I have seen charts that list Betsy Jackson Young as the daughter of David Jackson and Prudence Hathaway, but I believe this in incorrect. Prudence was born in 1792. She would have been only 13 years old when Betsy was born in 1805. But some charts say the obit is in error; that Betsy was born in 1809. Prudence & David were married in either 1807 or 1809. So they could have had a child in 1809. But look at their descendants chart: A different child, Mary Polly, was born in July of 1809 and another child, Harriet, in October of 1810. No way to fit Betsy in there! But I found another Betsy Jackson on page 20 of Robbin's book; Daniel, son of Benjamin, had 6 children, one of them a girl named Betsy. None of the 6 children have birth dates; and I cannot find record of their birth dates on rootsweb/world connect. This Daniel and his wife, Lydia Imlay, were in the party traveling together to Knox County in 1814. (The author just doesn't mention any of their children.) I surmise that Betsy Jackson Young's parents were Daniel Jackson and Lydia Imlay. But that's all it is....a guess. Without birth dates of Daniel's children, I haven't found a way to prove my guess. And I've run out of places to look. References
