Obituary Monticello Herald Journal 13 Jul 2004 Elizabeth "Betty" J. Sweet, 84, a relative of local residents

Elizabeth "Betty" J. Sweet, 84, the relative of local residents, died at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Orland, Fla.

She was born at Wabash on Sept. 16, 1919 to Harold and Dorothy Moore Hipskind.

She married Woodrow J. "Woodie" Sweet on Feb. 2, 1939 in Logansport. He died on Dec. 4, 1996.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, All Saints Ladies Society, Christ Renews His Parish and the Daughters of Isabella, all of Logansport.

She was a Lay Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

In 1994, she was presented a "Good Neighbor Award" by the Pharos Tribune.

She was also a member of the Eagles and the VFW Auxiliaries.

In earlier years, Betty had been employed at General Tire, Hildebrandt Corporation and A&P Food Store, all in Logansport and the Kingston Corporation of Kokomo.

She had also been a ‘meter maid' for the city of Logansport.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Judy) Sweet of Monticello; daughters Susie (companion, Gwen Straub) Sweet of Orlando, Fla., Diane (Mike) Young of Logansport, Deborah Lyn (Bob) Delaplane of Camden and Jane Baugh of Logansport; Roseann (companion, Dave Cox) Fobar of Greentown; brothers William (Mary Kay) Hipskindof Arizona and Barb Hipskind of Illinois; a sister, Rosemary Steinman of Logansport; eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 15 at Kroeger Funeral Home in Logansport and Friday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

A secular Franciscan Wake Service will be a 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Services will at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16 at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport with the Rev. Michael McKinney and the Rev. James R. Goodrum, officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
