According to the US Census of 1900, Virginia, Southampton, Newsom District 64:

Elizabeth (Bettie) was 34 years old (Birthdate Given as May 1866), Her Husband-James T. Britt was 36(Birthdate given as Oct 1863), and her son-Norman H. was 1(Birthdate given as Oct 1898). Bettie and James gave their years of marriage as 3. She Listed 2 in the number of children column, and 1 as number of children living. At present, there is no record discovered of the other child, but since the marriage took place approximately 1897, and Norman's birth is listed as 1898, she either lost the child early in the marriage, or around 1899 or early 1900 before the census count was taken.

Also according to this census, Bettie was born in Virginia, as were both her parents.

James was born in North Carolina, as were both his parents.

Norman is listed as born in Virginia (and so were his parents, which we know is in error if both the preceding lines in the census are correct).

According to the Cemetary Records in the Courtland Branch Library, Bettie Hill Britt is buried in the Hill Cemetary, on aplot of land located at the Hill house, which is located on the west side of Burnt Reed Road (VA route 743) between the intersection of Rochelle Swamp Road (VA route 674) and the North Carolina State line. The cemetary is located about 30 yards into a cotton field to the north side of the abandoned house, and appears to be overgrown with weeds and there are no signs of stones.
