According to 1860 and 1870 U.S. census records & Hall family sources, Elizabeth (nee Hall) Davidson was born in 1796. However the aforementioned research is in direct conflict with her birth year of 1779 as found inscribed on her headstone which has been examined both photographically and through onsite verification. Based upon on the research of historical records into this birth year discrepancy it is very likely it is the headstone that is in error since several sources corroborate her birth year to be 1796. Her husband, John Davidson outlived her and his birth year is 1779 and it maybe that when he commissioned her headstone may have confused her birth year with his. The Marriage record for her parents, Samuel Hall & Letitia (nee Hendricks) Hall records they were married on 17 Sep 1784 and if Elizabeth's birth year of 1779 as found on her headstone was accurate then this would place her birth 5 years before her parents were actually married and thus causes further doubt upon a 1779 birth year. Research has shown she was born in Morgan County, Tennessee and that she married John Davidson on February 19, 1819, in Morgan County, Tennessee. She died on October 22, 1874, in Macoupin County, Illinois.
