Mrs. Elizabeth Potter, wife of late Benjamin Potter died June 9th 1868 in Philadelphia, at the residence of her son, John E. Potter. She was the daughter of Pardon Green, born Nov. 8, 1792, and was united in marriage to her late husband at Newport, R. I. Mar. 6, 1808. Soon afterwards they removed to Hopkinton, where she was united with 1st SDB church, and with her husband remained a consistent & honored member until her death. Mrs. Potter was a devoted mother, a kind, sympathizing & genial friend, and possessed the love and esteem of all who knew her. Of 8 children, 6 passed away before her, and they were joined by her husband on the 9th of aug. 1867. After this last sad bereavement, her health, which had long been precarious, gradually but steadily declined, until the lamp of life went out, and her spirit passed away, gently, quitly and lovingly, to the mansion of eternal rest. Her body was taken to Hopkinton, where amid the tears of her friends, it was placed beside him who had been her partner in life for nearly 60 years. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
