Elizabeth Franklin's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 6th September 1779 when she married Thomas Linney at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. Between 1779 and 1801 they appear to have had five children baptised at Leighton Buzzard, although there are some quite large gaps between some of the children.

Elizabeth died in 1803, less than two years after the baptism of her youngest daughter. Elizabeth was buried at Leighton Buzzard on 26th May 1803, with the burial register describing her as poor. Thomas survived Elizabeth by 22 years.
