In De Ruyter, on the 9th inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Wells, wife of Matthew Wells, in the 75th year of her age. She retired to rest in usual health, but was taken ill about half past 11 o'clock, and remained in great distress an hour and a quarter, when she expired.
Sister Wells made a profession of religion in the 18th year of her age, and united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Hopkinton, R. I., where she held membership, until she united with the S. D. B. Church in De Ruyter of which she was a member when she died. She had many friends and relatives, among whom she sustained the Christian character, and was an ornament to the religion she professed, being possessed of a meek and quiet spirit and beloved, as a consort, a sister and mother, not only literally, but also as a mother in Israel.
