According to Shankland Family Research, Elizabeth had married a Stephenson prior to her marriage to Benjamin F. Shankland.

 In the 1850 census for Nicholas Co., Kentucky, Elizabeth Cassaday is head of household. She is 73, born Pennsylvania. In the household are John Breedlove 49 born Kentucky; Jane Cassaday 43, born Kentucky; Elizabeth Stevenson 19; and George Cassiday 15 -- both born Kentucky. NOTE: I belive Elizabeth was the daughter of Jane, already widowed by her first husband. {p.450a, <www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles>} There are also listings for Joseph Cassidy 37 M Laborer KY with Elizabeth J. 16 F KY;  George W. 15;  James A.P. 6;  Ruth A. 2; and Margaret 32 F Ohio.
In the 1860 census for Lebanon, Boone Co., Indiana, Benjamin Shankland is 73, constable from Delaware. His wife Elizabeth is 30 from Kentucky. {p.659, roll 305, M653} [Her brother?] George W. Cassidy is also listed in Boone Co. with his wife Catherine [Ader] and sons James and John.
 She may have married a third time after Benjamin's death.  There is a marriage notice for Elizabeth Shankland and Milton Gray in 1868 in Boone Co.
