Notes for ELIZABETH (BETSY) BUSH STORM: Elizabeth was the second wife of David Heller. He was married first to her sister Christina who was born Dec. 26, 1814 and married David (son of David and Catharine) June 20 or 30, 1839 and her residence was listed as Price, in Monroe County. Penn. This is from Hamiltion Twn. Union Church, Sciota Monroe Co,. Penn. Church Records Vol 2, 1828-1843. Record of Marriages & dearths of the Hamilton Twp. Church. Christina had 2 sons, Joseph born in 1839 and Andrew born in 1846 but she died shortly after Andrew's Birth and Elizabeth took care of the boys and married David but don't have the date. Elizabeth had been married to Charles Storm before marrying David Heller. David went from Monroe Co, Penn to Iowa to look for some land to buy and was on his way home via Janesville, Rock Co., Wi and on his way to his brother's ate some fruit and became very ill. The doctor was called but he was dead by the time the doctor arrived. Have found no record of his burial except that he was probably burried in Jaaesville, Wisconsin. The 1850 Census of Monroe Co. Paradise Twn. Penn lists: David Heller, age 41., Elizabeth age 34; Joseph age 21; Andrew, age 14; John, age 13; Morris, age 2 and Levi, 1/12. The 1860 Census of Iowa Co., Honey Creek Township, Iowa lists Elizabeth, 42; Joseph, 21; Andrew, ; John, 13; Morris, 12; Levi 10; Susan, 9; Simeon 7 - but David is not listed. On Jan 14, 1860 Samuel Houston was established in Iowa Co. Court as guardian of Andrew, John, Morris, Levi, Susan, and Simon Heller and resigned April 6. 1869. Elizabeth was a weaver and was known for her healing arts. In the cemetery where she is buried there are 3 graves beside hers: one is Caroline, dau. of F. & CA Bush - died June 19, 1860, aged 2 mo. 19 da; another is Frederick, husband of Catherine Bush died Sept 11, 1872, aged 51, |10 months, 10 da. There was a grave with no stone so it must be Catherine Mackey 9Bradley0 wife of Fredrick Bush. Elizabeth had a brother Frederick born in 1818 and some information says he and Catherine went west after 1851 so perhaps Elizabeth and her family went with them. |
