Elizabeth Bonser was baptised on 24th September 1761 at Colston Bassett in Nottinghamshire, daughter of Elizabeth Bonser, formerly Cam, and her husband William Bonser, a weaver. When Elizabeth was four years old her mother died. In 1769 Elizabeth's father married again, with Ann Wild thus becoming Elizabeth's stepmother.

Elizabeth's father died in 1777, when Elizabeth was fifteen. In his will he left five pounds to Elizabeth, to be paid to her when she turned twenty. Elizabeth's stepmother died the following year.

On 31st January 1785, aged 23, Elizabeth married William Lovett at Owthorpe, just west of Colston Bassett. At the time of their marriage she was living at Langar, just east of Colston Bassett.

Elizabeth and William went on to have eleven children baptised at Owthorpe between 1785 and 1808, although one died young in 1800.

William died in 1822, when he was said to be 66 years old. Elizabeth survived him by nearly nine years. She died at the age of 70 and was buried at Owthorpe on 26th October 1831.
