Elizabeth Blackford’s origins have yet to be established. The age given when she died suggests that she was born around 1758. Her first confirmed sighting is on 27th July 1777, when she married William Dyke at the church of St Nicholas in Warwick.

Between 1778 and 1792 Elizabeth and William had five children. Their first child was baptised at Leek Wootton, just north of Warwick, after which they returned to Warwick, where the other four children were baptised. Their youngest son died when he was about six years old in 1798.

William died in 1807. Elizabeth survived him by nearly 32 years. Immediately before her death she was living at Brook House Buildings in Warwick. She died in 1839, when she was said to be 81 years old. She was buried at St Nicholas’s church in Warwick on 17th November 1839.
