Elizabeth Baker's birth date and place are unknown. Her first sighting is in 1626, when she married James Stretcher at Little Wymondley in Hertfordshire. He was from nearby Willian, a couple of miles north of Little Wymondley, and the couple settled there and had five children, although the youngest, Sarah, died aged just over a year old.

Elizabeth died in 1643, having been married for sixteen years. It is likely there was an illness in the family - her daughter Elizabeth was buried aged 12 a week later.
