According to a WorldConnect database, she was the daughter of Daniel Atterberry (1828-1879) and Ann Watkins (1833-1874).  In the 1870 census for Tallula, Menard Co., Illinios, Daniel Atterberry is 42 farmer from Indiana with $15,000 real estate and $6,000 personal; Ann is 37 from Illinois; George is 15; William 14; Elias 13; J.D. 11; Crittenden 9; Andrew J. 7; Francis 5; Mary J. 3; and Nancy A. 6 months -- all born Illinois.  Note: I have found George, Elias, Joseph and possibly John Crittenden, William and Mary in the 1880 census, but none of the younger children. Since they were orphaned, they may be listed under a different family name because they are living with relatives.

 In the 1930 census for Mound Station Brown Co., Illinois, there are listings for Elizabeth M. Shankland 1873, James P. 1903; Nellie [James' wife] 1908; their children J. Robert 1927 and Almeda 1929.
