NETTIE PEASLEE Eliza Jeanette (Nettie) Peaslee, daughter ofHenry and Annie Renchausen was born February 11, 1873 atAppleton, Wisconsin, departed this life at her home in Stockton,January 5, 1955, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 25 days.When just a small child, she with her family moved to CawkerCity, Kansas, where she spent her early childhood. While still asmall girl, Nettie, with her family moved to Iron County,Missouri, where her father took up the lumber industry. Thereshe grew to womanhood, later returning to Glen Elder, Kansaswhere she was united in marriage with Frank Peaslee. Here theyresided for a year, before coming to their farm southwest ofStockton. It was here she spent the major part of her life withher husband, rearing their family and enjoying their life's worktogether. She and her husband played an important part indeveloping the Hobart Township community of which they became anestablished part. She was a gracious person placing the interestand welfare of her family above self. Early in life she wasbaptized into the Christian faith, which principles were aguiding light to her life. Upon the death of her husband, shemoved to Stockton where she made her home and spent theremaining years of her life. With her passing she leaves tomourn the following children: Faye Harwood, Alta Bird, RussellPeaslee, Fern Peaslee, Lillian Van Dyke, Florence Peaslee,Arthur Peaslee. Her sisters and brothers: Mrs. David Wilder ofCalifornia; and Mrs. Amos Westerman, Jerome, Fred and FrankRenchausen of Missouri. Eight grandchildren, 15great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, a host ofrelatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband,Frank, and one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Tyler. Funeral serviceswere held Friday afternoon at the Smith Memorial Chapel withRev. Dean Burton in charge and burial was in the Stocktoncemetery. Casket bearers were: Clarence Kenworthy, OrvilleKenworthy, Vernon Maddy, Ray Ives, Glenn Walker and A. R.Baxter. Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mr.and Mrs. David Van Dyke, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peaslee and Keithof Phillipsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Peaslee of Manhattan; MissJoyce Van Dyke, R. N., of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lynch andfamily, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harwood and Carol of Plainville; Mrs.Adolph Mower of Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Simpson, Mr. and Mrs.Keith Dean, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Reinhardt and Elda McCune ofGlen Elder. Eliza came to Kansas in 1874. She lived in MitchellCounty, KS. They lived for one year near Glen Elder, then theymoved to Rooks County March 10, 1902 where she lived on thePeaslee farm most of her life.
