The photo of Eliza shows her with Robert William Hayes and Ivy outside her Laundry shop in Canterbury. The address is 68 Stour Street and the property is still there Circa:2003. Around the corner is Jewry Lane wher Ivy was born (No; 7) although this is now a car park. Elizabeth hayes is mentioned as having a laundry shop in Canterbury in Kelly's Directory. Eliza was a cook before meeting Robert, and as he was a butler it is assumed they met in service. Story: Eliza was offered a position at Buckingham Palace but declined it due to the poor wages, and went as a cook elsewhere. One of Eliza's relatives is supposed to have married one of the Early's from the blanket makers in Witney. Eliza never taught or let any of her children cook. She sold faggots and peas from the window at 10 Russell street, Oxford. (Think railway workers used to buy them)...Local pup was "The Bridges" .. Marriage 1897 to Edward Court.
