"Eliza Jane Meese, daughter of Philip and Katherine Meese was born in Stark County, Ohio, March 20, 1846; departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myron Deller, near Hudson, Indiana, January 10, 1910,aged 63 years, nine months and 10 days. She was united in married to Samuel Clark on March 20, 1864, who preceded her to this spirit planned on November 3, 1905. To this union were born nine children, two sons departing this life in infancy. She left to mourn their loss, Mrs. Myron Deller, near Hudson, Mrs. Claude Ball, of Angola, Mrs. O. L. Baker, of Auburn, Mrs. C. F. Hosmer and Imogene Clark, of Detroit, Michigan, Miss Emma and Ira Clark, of Hudson, 1 sister Mrs. Thomas Roose, of Holdridge, Nebraska, one brother, William Meese, of Marshalltown, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In her earlier life she with her husband were converted, and united with the UB church. She died with the Christians hope. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church in Hudson and January 13, Rev. A. B. Gaff officiating. She was buried in circle Cemetery."
