  1.   Mrs. Eliza Manchester, who died Jan. 3, aged 83 years, was born in Otsego County, N. Y., March 5, 1810. She came to this county and married the late Parley Johnson, Jr., March 4, 1829. She was the last one of a family of twelve children. She left six children, fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren to mourn heir loss. All of her children, all hut two of her grandchildren, and nearly all of her great grandchildren attended her funeral. She was laid to rest by loving hands, amid a bower of beautiful Marechal Nail roses and smilax inside the casket, and on top a lovely Boquet of calls lillies and a sheaf of wheat, tied with a white ribbon,, which was used for the same purpose for her husband seven years ago. Six of her beloved grandsons. Frank. Will, Milton, Lee. Hugh. and John Johnson, were her pall bearers and tenderly consigned her to her tomb. She embraced religion sixty years age, and bad been an honored member of the M. E. Church here over thirty years. She was a faithful and loving wife, a kind and gentle mother and grandmother, a charitable and good woman, and beloved by all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted at her late home. Rev. T. R. Warnock officiated and delivered a splendid sermon from the 21st chapter of Revelations and 25th verse. Her remains were interred in the Nichols cemetery.
