Eliza Conkling was born after her father's death on 11 August 1814 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is listed in the Hamilton County, Ohio probate records which show John Ferris as her guardian. There is no record of a guardian being appointed for the other minor children of Joseph Conkling. Eliza with her guardian, John Ferris is listed in the 1825 tax duplicate of Hamilton County and appears again on the 1832 Butler County Ohio school tax list. This tax list names Eliza and her brothers Pierson and Joseph Cory Conkling as owners of the land which their father, Joseph Conkling had purchased in 1806 (range 1, township 4, section 14). In July, 1831 Eliza witnessed the sale of land on Hamilton County, Ohio by her mother to Isaac Ferris for $10. Hamilton County land records repeatedly show the sale of portions of her father’s estate with the exception of a parcel of each sale which was set off by order of the Supreme Court for Eliza Conkling. Eliza is mentioned in a deed from the sale of the Conkling homestead in Butler County, Ohio in 1909. The legal description on the deed states that the entire portion of the land is sold with the exception of twelve acres which was set off by order of the Supreme Court of Hamilton County for Eliza Conkling.

The Ferris Family Tree website by Norman Vance [1] provides information for the continuation of Eliza's life and line. Information further substantiated by cemetery records, Ohio death records, and US censuses. 

Hamiltom Cty probate records show John Ferris as Eliza's

guardian. 1832 Butler Co. school tax list shows Eliza Conkling (John Ferris, guardian) as owning part of 1-4-14 along with brothers Pierson and Joseph Cory Conkling. She also appears in the 1825 Tax Duplicate of Hamilton County. The 1850 US census shows her living in Sycamore Township, Hamilton COunty Ohio. Find-a-grave shows Eliza J Conklin Ferris b Aug 11, 1814 and married to Ezra Ferris.

1900 US census she lives with son-in-law Harston J Patrick and daughter Marilda. Census lists Eliza as a grandmother b Aug 1813, widowed; mother of 3 children with one living.
