    Their [Edward Putnam and Mary Hale] son, Elisha Putnam, born November 3, 1686 [sic], died June 10, 1745, was married February 15, 1713, to Susanna Fuller. He was known as Deacon Elisha Putnam, and was a representative in the General Court of Massachusetts. He was the father of General Rufus Putnam.

Son Elisha to be executor
    5 Jul 1745: Assent of heirs to proving of will, signed by Susanah Putnam, Elisha Putnam, Nehemiah Putnam, Jonathan Dudly who mary'd [???] Dudley, Timothy Holton who mary'd Susaneh.

In "Diary of a Journey from Massachusetts to the Ohio Country, 1798, with a Matthews Family Record", the "Matthews Family Record", NEHGR, p. 86:44, written by a grandson of Elisha (Dr. Increase Matthews, son of his daughter Huldah and her husband Daniel Matthews) gives his birth date as 1694 in Salem. Dr. Matthews attributes this information to verbal information from his mother Huldah just before she died. It does not match the record of his birth.
