 In 1857, John B., with his wife and 5 children migrated to Kansas Territory,

arriving June 14, 1857 in Douglas County, KS, south of Lawrence. The children's names were, John B. JR, Francis (Frank), Harriet, Hannah and Lewis DeWitt, who was 8 yers of age in 1857. 

 Harriet maried Elisha Hollenbeck, son of Mathias, who is credited with giving

the name Fairview to the Vicinity.
