"Elijah MacFarlin, Jr. was in Capt. Thomas Newcomb's CO., Col. Theophilis Cotton's regt., service from Sept 28, 1777, 35 days; company marched to Rhode Island on a secret expedition. " Elijah MacFarlin in a return of men raised to serve in the Continental Army from Captain Thomas Cotton's Regiment, dated February 20th, 1778; residence, Plympton; joined Captain "Thomas Turner's Co., Col. Bradford's regiment. Termed to expire December 31st, 1778."
